Why people book it
Why people go hot and cold.
Soreness and strength
Across pooled trials, alternating hot and cold water beat resting for both muscle soreness and strength loss after hard exercise (PLOS ONE, 2013).
The heat half
A long-running Finnish study tied frequent sauna use to fewer fatal heart events (JAMA Internal Medicine, 2015).
The cold half
Even a brief cold bath left first-timers feeling more alert and less distressed in a 2023 study (Biology, 2023).
Research, not a promise. Results vary, and none of this is medical advice.
What it's like here
Heat and cold, a few steps apart.
The plunge glows on one side of the room and the sauna on the other. That short walk is the point. You go from about 170°F to 45 to 49°F and back without a hallway, a line or a locker.
There's no set routine. Many people do two or three rounds: 10 to 15 minutes of heat, up to a couple of minutes of cold, then a shower. Adjust as you learn what you like.
Two suites means more open times in Temecula, which makes contrast easier to turn into a weekly habit. Our contrast therapy guide goes deeper.

- Warm up first with one long sauna round.
- Then a short plunge. Thirty seconds counts.

Contrast questions.

What does a contrast session look like at CBR?
You book a private suite, move between the infrared sauna and the cold plunge at your own pace, and finish in your own shower. No class, no instructor, no clock but yours.
How long should each round be?
A common starting point is 10 to 15 minutes of heat and 30 seconds to 2 minutes of cold. Adjust from there, and stop any time you feel off.
Which Temecula suite is best for contrast?
Either one. Both have the sauna, the plunge and the shower in the same room.
Can my partner and I share a suite?
Yes. Add a guest for $20 at checkout and you'll have the room together. Swap places between the heat and the cold.
Can I get a contrast session today?
Often, yes. With two suites, Temecula usually has openings later the same day. The booking board shows live times.
Does contrast therapy help recovery?
Research suggests it can. A review found alternating hot and cold water reduced muscle soreness and strength loss compared with rest after hard exercise (PLOS ONE, 2013). Think of it as a recovery routine, not a medical treatment.
Is contrast therapy safe for me?
That depends on you. If you're pregnant, have a heart condition or high blood pressure, or have any doubts, talk to your doctor before booking. If you're cleared, start gently and stop whenever something feels wrong. You'll sign a waiver before your first visit.
