Private suite

The short answer

What is a private sauna?

A private sauna is one you book just for yourself, so nobody else shares the bench. At Conscious Body Recovery you rent the whole suite by the session, 25, 55 or 85 minutes: an infrared sauna, a cold plunge and your own shower, towels included. Come alone or bring a guest. Sauna benefits

Why a sauna, and why a private one.

Regular sauna use is one of the best-studied heat habits there is. Here's what the research says, and what a room of your own adds.

  1. 01 · Relaxation and sleep

Downtime that carries into the night

    What the research says

In a survey of 482 regular sauna users, relaxation and stress relief were the top reasons to go, and 83.5% reported sleeping better after a session (Hussain et al., Complementary Therapies in Medicine, 2019).

    At CBR

No strangers, no small talk, nobody waiting for your spot. Book an evening slot (studios are open into the evening on weekdays) and head straight home.

  2. 02 · Heart health

    Heart health research

    What the research says

A 15-year study of 1,688 men and women linked sauna use four to seven times a week with a lower risk of dying from heart disease than once a week (Laukkanen et al., BMC Medicine, 2018). It's observational and used traditional saunas, so it shows a link, not proof.

    At CBR

A membership covers up to one session a day, which makes a regular habit simple.

  1. 03 · Circulation

    Softer arteries, lower pressure

    What the research says

After a single 30-minute sauna session, 102 adults with at least one heart risk factor had lower blood pressure and less arterial stiffness than before they went in (Laukkanen et al., Journal of Human Hypertension, 2018).

    At CBR

That drop is also why you should stand up slowly after a long round.

  2. 04 · Longevity

    Longevity research

    What the research says

A 2024 review of heat therapy research found Finnish-style sauna has the most consistent evidence of any passive heat therapy, linking it with mental wellbeing, sleep and longevity (Laukkanen et al., Temperature, 2024).

    At CBR

Our saunas are infrared, which feel gentler than a Finnish sauna. Having the room to yourself makes it easy to come back often.

  3. 05 · The big picture

A habit with research behind it

    What the research says

A systematic review of 40 clinical studies with 3,855 participants found most reported health benefits from regular dry sauna use, while calling for bigger, better trials (Hussain and Cohen, Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine, 2018).

    At CBR

Start with one session a week, see how you feel, and build from there.

This is what studies suggest, not a promise, and a sauna isn't a treatment for any condition. Most long-term research used traditional saunas. If you're pregnant or have a heart or blood pressure condition, check with your doctor before you book.

  • Ian J.Google review, San Diego

“So happy I found this gem while visiting San Diego. … The rooms are private and peaceful and the price for sessions are very fair. I will definitely be back.”

If you already have a gym sauna you like, keep using it. If you want a whole day of massages and pools, a day spa is the move. A private suite is for the in-between: real heat, real cold and nobody else, in under an hour. More in our private sauna vs. gym sauna breakdown.

Bring someone

A sauna for two.

Add a guest when you book and the suite is yours to share. One guest is $20 on top of your session.

  • A different kind of date. Heat, cold and an hour of actual conversation.
  • Catching up with a friend. No table to wait for, no check, no rush.
  • Training partners. Same workout, same plunge, same bragging rights.

The sauna has room for three on the bench, and you'll take turns in the plunge, which is half the fun. Booking for someone else? A gift card covers a session, and recovering together has more ideas for two.

First time

First visit, no guesswork.

You're on your own in the suite, which is the point. A few things that help.

  1. 1

    Arrive a few minutes early

Your time starts at your booked slot, so a small buffer means more time in the heat.

  2. 2

    Watch the clock

Keep sauna rounds around 15 to 20 minutes. There's a clock on the wall, so your phone can stay in your bag.

  3. 3

    Start gentle

A shorter first round, and a thirty-second plunge if you try it at all.

  4. 4

    Stand up slowly

After the heat, take a moment before you get up and walk across the room.

  5. 5

Leave it how you found it

Hang up your towel on the way out. The suite gets reset for the next guest.

What's inside

What you get behind the door.

  • Infrared sauna

Room for three on the bench, up to about 170°F at its warmest.

  • Cold plunge

Your own tub, kept at 45 to 49°F.

  • Private shower

Rinse between rounds or at the end, in the same room.

  • Towels and amenities

Fresh towels stacked and ready, plus the basics.

  • Your lighting

A remote changes the sauna's light color, so the mood is up to you.

  • Your door

From start to finish, the room is yours. Nobody walks in.
