Why people book it

What cold water may do for you.

  • Post-workout soreness

Pooled trials suggest a cold soak after exercise takes a little more edge off muscle soreness than resting does (Sports Medicine, 2016).

  • Alert and upbeat

Thirty-three people who had never tried cold water felt more active, alert and inspired after five minutes in it (Biology, 2023).

  • The rush

Researchers measured noradrenaline up 530% and dopamine up 250% in people who sat in cold water for an hour (European Journal of Applied Physiology, 2000). A short plunge is a smaller dose, but many people still feel the jolt.

What it's like here

The Temecula plunge, lit from inside.

The Temecula tubs are glass-fronted and lit blue from below, under a green Breathe sign. The water is kept at 45 to 49°F. You can see exactly what you're getting into, which somehow makes it both easier and harder.

First time? Swing your legs in, lower yourself slowly, and let the first breath out long. Thirty seconds is a real win, and nobody's watching, so take as long as you need to get in.

If you've been doing cold showers at home, this is the next step: full immersion, a steady temperature, and a hot sauna a few steps away. Read the full guide to cold plunging.

Plunge pointers.

  • Breathe out for longer than you breathe in.
  • Keep your hands out of the water if they're the hard part.
  • Start with 30 seconds and build up on later visits.
  • Warm up afterward in the sauna or the shower.
  • Heart condition, high blood pressure or pregnant? Get a doctor's OK before your first plunge.

Plunge FAQ

Cold plunge questions.

Want to talk it through before your first plunge? Call (858) 305-2226.

  • How cold is the plunge in Temecula?

45 to 49°F. Cold enough that thirty seconds feels like plenty the first time.

  • Is a cold plunge the same as cryotherapy?

No. Cryotherapy uses very cold air in a chamber, and we don't offer it. A plunge is cold water you sit in, in your own private suite.

  • What should I bring?

A swimsuit and a water bottle. Towels are waiting in the suite.

  • Can I book just the cold plunge?

Yes. Book any length and spend it however you like. A 25-minute plunge and shower is a good way to start.

  • Never plunged before. Where do I start?

Short and slow. Sit on the edge, ease in, and aim for thirty seconds. If you have a heart condition or high blood pressure, or you're pregnant, check with your doctor before your first time.

  • What does a cold plunge do for you?

Studies suggest it may ease muscle soreness after exercise (Sports Medicine, 2016) and lift your mood: newcomers felt more alert and less nervous after a five-minute cold bath (Biology, 2023). It doesn't treat any medical condition.
